A Badische Zeitung interview about lateral thinking

In an interview with Hagen Späth for the Badische Zeitung, our managing director Florian Seibold faced critical questions about the word “Querdenker”, an allusion to our company name.

An excerpt from the article:

Mr Seibold, are you a Querdenker?

“My colleagues and I do not see ourselves as part of the political debate. We are not opposed to vaccination, and we do not take part in the demonstrations of the Querdenker movement. We are simply ordinary engineers who want to do good work.”

Ever since the company was founded in 2014, we have understood “Querdenken”, lateral thinking, as looking at technical and product problems from every direction in order to find the best solution for our clients.

After some indignant first reactions to our name, the excitement has died down somewhat, and most people can now look at the situation of querdenker engineering with a little distance and a wink. Asked about the challenges of the pandemic, Mr Seibold named the difficult availability of materials. It drives up costs considerably, in prototyping for instance, and those costs are hard to pass on after the fact.
