Since 2014, querdenker engineering has developed electronics, embedded software and cloud connectivity for manufacturers in industry and medical technology. We work as a development partner on customer projects and as a product house with our own building blocks. The core team works at one site in Offenburg, Germany.

Development on your behalf
Circuit design and layout, firmware, application software and IoT cloud for devices that need approval and then stay in the field for years. Our customers are manufacturers with their own product responsibility, mostly in industry and medical technology.
Our own building blocks for a faster market entry
The qdHardwarePlatform with qdGate and qdSBC, qdCloud for operating connected devices, and qdTest for testing in production. When a building block fits, part of the development is already done; otherwise we develop to your specification.
From enquiry to operation
Seven phases, and each ends with something you can check: requirements, architecture, test reports, manufacturing documents. The last phase runs as long as the device runs: updates, vulnerability handling, spare parts.

How we work
One team, one site
Systems engineering, circuit design, firmware, update mechanisms and IoT cloud are built by the same core team. We work at one site in Offenburg and share a lunch table. Interface questions get settled there before they turn into schedule slips.
Handover and independence
What we develop for you becomes yours: schematics, layout, source code, manufacturing data and documentation. For our own products, documents and manufacturing data are held by an independent party. If we can no longer deliver, you get access to them.
Three development domains, one team
An industrial device needs different evidence than a medical device or a safety function. We run all three processes: industrial projects iteratively with sprint reviews, medical devices to IEC 62304 with risk management to ISO 14971, safety-related systems with a safety plan to IEC 61508 or ISO 13849. The evidence is produced alongside development and is on the table when the audit comes.
Transparent project status
Requirements, architecture, estimates and test cases are open to you from day one. Requirements and tests are versioned and released. Every one to two weeks, a short meeting covers status, open technical questions and organisation.

How we decide
Everyone votes on strategy and budget
Once a year, all employees vote on strategy, budgets and the salary model by simple majority. The people on your project therefore know the numbers and the direction of the company. In many cases that removes the need to check upstairs.
The team picks the team
All employees vote on hires and on who fills which role. The colleagues on your project chose each other. Day to day, each role decides for itself; anything that changes processes or strategy goes to a vote.
Commitments hold
What gets voted on is strategy, budget and staffing; a running project continues untouched. Internally we decide by vote; the GmbH stands behind what we commit to you.
