In the end, the number someone relies on is right

A reading decides a batch, a diagnosis, an invoice. That is what we develop electronics and firmware for in measuring, test and laboratory instruments, pre-test EMC in-house and test every assembly at the end of the line.

Triggers

Typical entry points

  • The successor instrument

The predecessor has measured reliably for fifteen years, components are discontinued, and the customer wants to see the instrument on the lab network. The successor needs new electronics, an interface to LADS OPC UA or SiLA and an update path the Cyber Resilience Act now requires.

  • The instrument has to stay verifiable

Meters and scales used for billing fall under legal metrology. The legally relevant part must be separated from the rest of the instrument, in hardware or in software, and every change to it touches the type approval.

  • Testing and adjustment in series production

Every assembly needs programming, a functional test and adjustment at the end of the line, with a record per serial number. For small and medium quantities the cost per tested assembly has to stay affordable.

Regulation

Regulatory framework for measuring and laboratory instruments

  • IEC 61010-1

Electrical safety for measurement, control and laboratory equipment: creepage distances, protection class, insulation. We design the circuit to it and deliver the evidence.

  • IEC 61326-1

EMC for the same class of equipment; sensitive analogue circuitry must withstand interference and emit none. We measure alongside development in-house; the test laboratory receives an instrument that has already passed once.

  • Cyber Resilience Act

Applies to every instrument with a network, radio or USB data interface; medical devices are exempt, measuring instruments are not. Reporting obligations since 11 September 2026, product requirements from 11 December 2027. Monitoring vulnerabilities and providing updates is what we take on for as long as the instrument is on the market.

  • IVDR

For in-vitro diagnostics we deliver the development documentation to IEC 62304.

  • Legal metrology

Instruments used for billing need a type approval. The legally relevant part is separated, identifiable and updatable under WELMEC 7.2. We split the architecture in hardware or software so that a change to the free part does not touch the approval.

We work to these standards and regulations.

A reading is a promise. The electronics keep it.

Secure boot, signed updates and vulnerability management across the field life.

Frequent questions

What manufacturers ask us before the start

Do you build the test station as well?

Yes, with qdTest for small and medium quantities or as a custom rig. Test sequence, limits and record come from us.

Does the Cyber Resilience Act apply to our instrument?

Yes, as soon as it has a network, radio or USB data interface. The exemption for medical devices does not apply to measuring instruments. We clarify at the outset which requirements affect your instrument.

Do you measure EMC in an accredited lab?

No, not ourselves. We pre-test alongside development in-house; the approval measurement runs at the accredited laboratory, with an instrument that rarely surprises there.

Next step

Tell us about your instrument.

Describe the instrument, the measurement task and your schedule. We will tell you how we would approach the project and where we see risks for approval and series production. The evaluation up to a budgetary price is free of charge.
