3D-printed COVID-19 face shields protect against droplet infection

We are tinkerers, and our mindset is: do good and lend a hand!

Since none of us is a virtuoso at the sewing machine, it was clear that we needed another idea to help where there was a shortage. We, too, wanted to make a voluntary contribution during the hard times of the coronavirus pandemic.

Normally we use our 3D printer to build prototypes and try out other new ideas in our querdenker engineering projects. We cannot sew and we have no factory floor, but we can at least put our 3D printer to work. No sooner said than done: we found a printer-friendly design that protects the wearer and the people around them from droplet infection. To support people in our region, the printer now runs around the clock.

With this we are supporting the makervsvirus.org community, which, among other things, organises the distribution of the face shields. A warm thank you to everyone in charge and to all the helpers! They keep things running smoothly between the makers and the people and organisations who depend on the equipment and spare parts being produced.
