Christian reports: my traineeship at querdenker engineering

After finishing my computer science degree, I came across querdenker engineering GmbH in Ichenheim and got in touch. After a first phone call with Maike, I was invited straight away to come and meet the team. In the face-to-face conversation it quickly became clear that I still had a lot to learn before I could move from computer science and application software development fully into deep embedded projects. Even so, I was invited to a trial day, and afterwards I was offered a six-month traineeship.

At the start of the traineeship, we drew up an induction plan based on my existing knowledge and on my career goals in embedded systems. This let me spend the first month learning the fundamentals of C++, with all the learning material provided. My motivation was especially high because I was then able to work on a client project. The project work gave me a lot of practical knowledge: besides applying C++ in practice, I gained insight into software design, which my degree had only ever covered in theory.

The traineeship taught me a great deal, because I was always well supported and encouraged, and could gain technical experience and get to know everyday working life without too much pressure. Regular feedback meetings accompanied the traineeship, in which we talked openly and reviewed the induction plan. Throughout the whole traineeship, people in every area were always ready to help. The whole team was always open to questions, so I settled in quickly.
