Podcast: how a democratic organisation shapes success

Ortenau Inside, episode 9: Florian Seibold talks to Wolfgang Huber about internal processes and what democratic organisation means in a competitive market.

The Ortenau Journal invited Florian Seibold onto its podcast series “Ortenau Inside”. In episode 9, the journalist Wolfgang Huber talked with him about internal processes, how the company has developed, and how querdenker engineering GmbH competes.

The interview runs about twenty minutes and covers, among other things, how the idea for the democratic model came about, how it was introduced, and how decisions are actually made day to day.

One point of particular interest: the pay model at querdenker engineering, which was itself decided democratically. It rests on a set of criteria, among them social skills, taking responsibility and technical qualification, and from those determines the level of pay transparently.

The conversation also covers career paths, how the company is perceived, the effect on recruitment, and how the chosen form of organisation bears on commercial success.
