A seat control that does not stop at one model
Firmware and a PC tool for a cinema seat drive control: extended, taken straight into series production, and designed so that further furniture controls can build on it.
The task
limoss supplies drives, controls, wiring and handsets for motorised furniture, from care beds to cinema seating. The firmware and PC tool of the drive control for the cinema seats were to do more than before.
The brief had two sides: the new functions, and a structure that would also support the next ones.
The solution
We built the firmware on semf. Our software architecture already includes the bootloader, the update path and the communication, so development could start straight away on the seat function.
We also developed a PC tool for Windows and macOS that is used to set up and parameterise the control. The team at limoss and our developers coordinated directly with each other.
The result
The control went into series production without an intermediate step.
Building on this work, limoss is planning a modular motor control software kit: what we developed for the cinema seating is to form the basis of the next furniture control as well.
