A seat control that does not stop at one model
Firmware and a PC tool for a cinema seat drive control: extended, taken straight into series production, and built so further furniture controls can rest on it.
The task
limoss supplies drives, controls, wiring and handsets for furniture that moves, from care beds to cinema seating. The drive control for the cinema seats was to do more than before, in its firmware and in its PC tool.
The brief had two sides: the new functions, and a structure that would carry the ones after them.
The solution
The firmware was built on semf. Our software architecture already brings the bootloader, the update path and the communication, so development could start directly at the seat function.
Alongside it came a PC tool for Windows and macOS that commissions and parameterises the control. The work was agreed directly between the team at limoss and our developers.
The result
The control went into series production without an intermediate step.
Out of the work, limoss is planning a motor control software kit: what was built for the cinema seating is to carry the next furniture control as well.
