A sensor that tells care staff in real time
An IoT sensor system for residential care: an absolute humidity sensor built into the board, ultra-low-power operation, and an encrypted path all the way into the care software.

The task
mySenti is a start-up out to improve the situation in care homes and in mobile care. The idea of an incontinence sensor was to become a system ready for the market.
We examined the IoT sensor system for feasibility and worked out the concept. The core of the work was hardware and software development, along with support for the pilot installation in a care home.
The solution
At the centre sits an absolute humidity sensor integrated into a board structure. Next to it are an ultra-low-power chip, battery management and further sensors. The sensor attaches to any incontinence product on the market.
Encrypted sensor data goes out at intervals to the mySenti IoT bridges, which pass it on to the local backend in the home. Through an interface to the care software that we developed, the measurements join up with the patient records and reach the care staff's mobile app.
The whole system runs on the local network. The cloud backend evaluates anonymised readings only, and that evaluation serves product improvement alone.
Handling patient data
The concept follows a simple line: capture as little patient data as possible and store none of it.
The entire data path is encrypted and secured by certificate checking.
